Week 13: w/e 30th August 2026
Hello Folks and appreciate you taking the time to read. The week carried on as the last one ended, me taking it easy and working around the variable pain and discomfort. After having to cancel our Bristol trip, we both focused on me taking it as easy as possible, to put all efforts into the coming Military Odyssey show, which began on Friday, for us. I had my pre-chemo blood test on Wednesday, but they were running behind, so informed me that a nurse would call the same day, or the next. Nothing by Friday, so I chased them up, still nothing. Done the same on Sunday, still nothing! I need to begin my pre-chemo meds on Monday morning and am now left with having to phone them then; far from ideal and has left us a bit in limbo.
I had physio on Thursday (as did Sandra) and that was good timing, as I needed work done to my shoulder and Sandra had the foresight to book the sessions the day before the show started. We went to the show and were on our feet a lot, which took a bit of a toll, mainly the top of my leg muscle, which was making it difficult to stand on at times. However, it was great to be there. I got to interact with many friends, alongside existing and new customers. Lots of in depth historical discussions and I even conducted a talk at Speaker’s Corner, each morning. This was much needed, psychologically and a nice way to round off the pre-chemo start phase.
The first main draft of the Münkemer book was completed and it is now with a fellow, trusted, historian, who will cast his eye over some specific chapters. The rest of week was focused on getting all of the last minute elements together for the show, which took up a lot of time, for me and Sandra.
At the show itself, we had an absolutely superb highlight, which was Sandra being asked to sign Volume 7 for the first time! We were both blown away when the customer asked and very, very pleased. You may recall that Sandra put a lot of time into the early phases of the research for Volume 7 and it was only completed with her direct help. For her to be asked to do that, was a nice surprising endorsement of her time and input. This week’s photos shows a cropped down photo of that key moment - simply superb!
In summary, a pre-show focused week, alongside the next key pre-chemo treatment aspects to contend with.
Thanks to you all for your support and kind words of late.
Regards, Peter
