This week did not present any real health related changes. I have however, undertaken a few ‘tests’ around pillow choices. Staying in the hotel bed last weekend resulted in me waking less sore around my neck and upper body. The ‘tests’ have yielded some results and a slight easing of that aspect of my pain. The recovery from the show last weekend was the main focus.
You may recall that Sandra had planned to finish off her insights into life living with me and the disease. She has been finding this increasingly difficult, so we have both taken the decision for her to stop that and not subject her to any further distress, which this has been causing her. Living with the disease is hard for her, writing about it is proving too much. Sandra has been unwell most of the week, so it was my turn to care for the carer (as was the case pre-cancer).
The usual weekend visit from the grandkids was slightly different. Sandra and Alanna were with Rachel (my daughter in law to be) and her mum, Sue, as they went to choose a wedding dress. Therefore, I looked after the grandkids, with some help from Karl. A nice alternative visit, one helped by some new toys we had acquired, to ensure that they have toys that continue to stimulate them, as they grow.
Saturday evening witnessed an excellent evening at my friend Kim’s, with her and her husband Ryan hosting, Sandra and I, plus Emma and her family. Kim’s daughter was home visiting too, so a nice evening catching up with friends / former work colleagues. Kim and Emma were part of my senior team at the holiday company (along with Jennie, who was unable to make this get together) and we achieved our best accomplishments together. A very fun evening with good food and great company. Lots of topics covered, including Emma already claiming some of my time post-retirement.
Saturday was one of the busiest days we have had for some time, from we woke until we went o bed, after visiting Kim and Ryan’s. No real time for respite and whilst writing this on Sunday, both Sandra and I are resting up and recharging our batteries.
Whilst not a very ‘health eventful’ week, it was one of more normality. We enjoy these weeks, when they present themselves and we relish them.
The coming week will see a phone call with the Consultant, my blood test and tablet renewal, but that will be detailed next weekend.
For now, thanks for the ongoing support, interest and input.
Regards
Peter
