The week started with the final day of the history show in Kent, and by the end of that day, I was spent completely. The batteries were well and truly run down. Standing on my feet for long periods of time, over 4-days, was a challenge, especially after the previous weekend’s extensive walking around York; Sandra and I were certainly looking forward to the end of the week and doing very little.
The main impact from the show was the back pain, alongside the lack of fluids (not forgetting - just very busy!). During the remainder of the week, it was trying to rest, alongside a return to work the following day. The fingertip and soles of my feet sensitivity were notable during this week, more so than for some time now; do not know the driver, but may be another impact of the show and not being able to sit down as much as usual. The leg muscle stiffness is very notable too and moving after sitting down, is challenging for the first 30 seconds or so. The residue of the head cold caught in York was also there, but decreasing impact each day, so by the end of the week, almost back to normal.
The weekend was one where we got to see the grandkids properly for the first time in a few weeks,, but one where we started to celebrate Sandra’s birthday. We had both of our kids with us, their other halves and most of the kids, which was nice to enjoy, helped along by the good weather. Taking the time to mark each birthday / notable key date, is something we place more emphasis on now, as the fragility of our time here is more apparent (for any of us!).
In summary, a week to recover from the impact of the past couple of weekends, but great to have been able to do them both. We will certainly be adjusting for future trips / events, alongside the push to improve the stamina and fitness in general.
Thanks for the continued feedback, which is heartwarming and very welcomed.
