Health aspects first and the main focus was the residual cold / flu, week 3. It’s pretty much gone, just some on and off sniffles, with tiredness too. I kept up the 3 walks this week, but they were notably harder to complete, mainly due to the tiredness and the sniffles. The times were 13:10, 12:52, then 12:58 (after a day of being out and about / being busy) - so back under 13:00, but I had to work to deliver those times! The weather was very poor in Kent for most of the week, so I had to squeeze those walks into a tighter timeframe; the personal pushing is important, despite the challenges. The back pain in not too bad and I have physio booked in for the coming week, so will see what he says.

Sandra continues on the right track with her recovery and she had her next physio session on Tuesday, where she was put through her paces! Part of her additional exercise regime requires some cycling, so I extracted the exercise bike from the attic, got it ready for her and she is now getting used to that, prior to increasing her exercise duration on that. Now that her hip is sorted, the next focus is her lower back pain, part of the residual impact of decades of adjusting for the hip pain.

Monday was the day after Karl’s birthday and as he had the day off holiday, we made a morning of it and went out and about for some retail therapy. A nice self-indulgent half day for both of us (he had the afternoon with Rachel, who had obtained a half day off) and something that we made the most of (despite the rain) now that he is back in Kent. We also managed some additional time on Friday afternoon, which was nice.

Thursday evening also gave me a chance to spend time with Alanna, with her inviting me to a book reading in Canterbury. That was from Allison Weir, the international best selling author who focuses on the Queens of England. The particular focus was on 4 Queens from the 1400s, and the subject of her latest book title. Very nice to get some adult time with her, indulging in our shared passion for history in general. She also managed to snag 2 personally dedicated signed books from the author, after the talk.

The focus on Volume 7 continues at pace and the current focus is the appendices. They are almost complete, but are a time consuming aspect of this series, as everything has to be checked, cross-checked and verified. I have for the first time, a total of the quantity of soldiers that will be detailed in this volume / the whole series. A very good stage to get to and I expect to complete that task this coming week. Sandra and I managed a day out on Sunday, which including meeting up with one of my good friends, Andy W, where we photographed and listed a collection of military vehicles / equipment. We rounded that day off with a nice bite to eat at one of our regular haunts.

In summary, another week where the health aspects are negligible, where I spent quality time with both of my kids, whilst getting out and about with my Sandra; more weeks like that please!

Your support of this weekly Blog is very much appreciated and thank you for that.

Regards

Peter.
