Hi Folks and the usual health / fitness updates first. The week was fairly manageable overall, except for some issues with diet and feeling sluggish at the end of the week. Unsure how much of this is connected to the AD world, but it is an aspect that Sandra and I are aware of and one that is transforming constantly. There is a long list of foods that I cannot eat any longer and that is changing; how I felt at the start of the weekend may be another evolution, but we’ll see. The annoying aspect of this is, despite the changed diet / eating habits, with both of us of the opinion that I am eating less, the waistline does not reflect that. I know I have covered this a few times and a number of you have commented on age and metabolism, etc., but it is one of those ‘always there’ things, connected to the AD world.
Exercise-wise, this is the first week where I shifted to two long walks and the first was 13:11 then the second was 13:00. Pleased with those and now the thoughts turn to how do I increase the speed to obtain sub-13:00 timings, or, are they possible?; I also squeezed in 2 short walks in between those, as it was a 4-walk week. Alongside that, 2 bike rides done too, with one of those done on the day when I was not feeling the best, but decided to forge on and do one, or at least start and see how far I would get; I managed to complete the ride and felt it helped overall.
We begun the task of clearing our attic this week, something that has been on the list since the AD world arrived; part of the ‘try not to leave too much junk for Sandra and the kids to sort’ aspects. However, the first 18-months of the AD world and the impact of that, precluded any hope of climbing into an attic. Then the winter weather since November (when we got the good news from the scan), has not made that something of an attractive proposition. So far, good headway made, with more planned for the coming week.
The writing continued and the main focus is on finalising the outstanding items for the veteran’s book, with key progress made on that. One more biography completed for Volume 7, due to the heavy emphasis on the veteran’s book and the June deadline.
We ended the week with me taking part in a 80th VE Day commemoration scooter ride out to a well-known Battle of Britain site in Folkestone. The ride out was well attended with somewhere between 90 and 100 scooters that went there, coming from various parts of Kent. Sandra drove up in the car and joined me there for a pleasant cuppa and views out over the sun drenched English Channel. We had lunch at home, then took a short journey to Hythe, where we strolled along the canal there and indulged in some ice cream cones.
Overall, a good week with routine items settling down, alongside the annoyance of the food / diet impact.
Your support of this is a key aspect and I am very appreciative of it, as is Sandra and the kids.
Best regards
Peter
