Health updates to start the week and last Monday seen me having my latest 3-monthly hormone injection, then physio in the afternoon. He could certainly feel the tightness in the muscles on the left side and did extensive work with his hands, followed by acupuncture and then the massage machine. Great to get it done, but my back felt it for the rest of the day and into the next day. The pain has been variable throughout the week, but I have undertaken the continued walking and cycling regime. Tuesday was a day of two halves, with me being sore and tired in the morning, but then I did a short walk, returned to the house, got in the car and undertook a cycle on the established 4.6 mile round trip. A second cycle was undertaken on Friday, with a further short walk and a long walk, the result of that one being 13:10. Slightly slower than the previous one, but I am happy with anything between 13:00 and 13:30.
Sandra got offered a date for her hip operation, but that would have been this coming week - far too soon! However, she was then offered one for early-June, which she has accepted, with all paperwork signed, etc. Now both of us are psychologically preparing for that and the recovery phase afterwards, which will take care of the majority of the summer months. It needs done and no sense in delaying it, so on we go.
Trying to make the most of the weather, I did some outside activities, mainly focused on the garage and sorting out items there. Part of that continued on Thursday with Karl and I doing some work on the restoration of his vintage Vespa scooter, which is moving on bit by bit. It is easy for me to sit in front of a screen every day and write, as there is no shortage of projects to be worked on, but I am trying to vary the week and break the activity types up a little, especially as the weather is better and we have more daylight.
Regarding the writing, work on the veterans books moved along nicely, alongside Volume 7 and by the end of the week, I passed the 95 biographies completed mark, which is great, but I will not get the remaining ones done by the end of April; more likely May now. Many of these late-war soldiers are within the ‘disputed’ list and information on them can be scant and hard to verify, which slows the process down a lot. Many hours of searching, with limited results, which is frustrating, but part of the necessary process of covering an innovative project concept that is entering its final stage.
The Easter weekend gave us a chance to rest a little, alongside catching up on chores and spending time with the grandkids too.
A week of body repair, exercise maintenance and project advancement.
Thanks for your time and interest.
Best regards
Peter
