From the health perspective, the week started with the next round of physio (for both of us), which was good timing. Some more acupuncture and also attention on a shoulder muscle strain that appeared in the previous week (not sure where from). He quickly isolated the cause and put his thumb on the exact point of issue, with an instant reaction from myself; a couple of additional exercises added to the list for that one.
I had a very busy week, with half of the week not at home, which impacted the usual walking and cycling plans. I did a long walk on Tuesday and it was 6 seconds slower tan the previous next of 13:29. However, I felt like another long walk on Sunday and that achieved 13:07 - the new ‘record’. Both of those walks did not feel too much different and certainly not almost 30 seconds different, but hey, will take it. Just trying to do what I can, when I feel like it and the Sunday walk just went very well - I still think the cycling is helping overall. Shorter walks were conducted in between. I only had time for one cycle this week (Saturday), same location and distance as before, but the first leg of the trip was into a 15 mph headwind and that resulted in me having to drop down 5 gears, with those rather wide tyres being pulled by that wind. It was sunny, just windy and there were a few times when I contemplated stopping, but decided to push ahead. The return leg was much easier and I was travelling nice and fast back to the car (a few people got out of my way).
I had a letter from Dr Rahman, which is the usual situation after a conversation. Although our planned chat did not materialise, the letter did confirm that he will talk to me in 4 months, as everything remains ‘under control’, with him referencing the 0.2 PSA result. That little ‘under control’ reference means so much more than those 2 words, as I am sure many of you can imagine.
The main reason for the busy week was down to the consultancy work I undertake. There was the need to cover off some work experience and I helped to devise, then deliver a chunk of that work experience insight for the school student. In total, around 2.5 days, instead of the usual 1. Nice to have the chance to pass on a wider business insight to someone at that stage of their education, as opposed to the usual ‘filing or photocopying’ that many of them will get stuck with in some offices.
We managed 2 meet ups this week, with one of those being a reschedule from the previous week’s postponements. The first was with Anneka, my former close working colleague, who we have not had a chance to meet up with for some time (her working pattern makes meeting up very challenging); a very nice evening was enjoyed by the 3 of us. The following evening, we met up with Martin, who we both worked with in the auction company. We do get the chance to meet up with him more regularly and the last one was January. Again, a nice pleasant evening with him, catching up on life and us trying a different eating venue this time.
The writing was pushed down the priority list, due to the impact of the busier week, but I did manage to start adding the text and imagery into the ‘Veteran’s’ book, which was a nice stage to get to, as it helps me to begin to visualise the end result. I still have some short biographies to cover off for that, but I just felt like switching creative modes on Friday; catching up on the bios will be easy enough. I also managed 3 biographies for the WSS Knights series.
The week was round off with Mother’s Day in the UK, with Alanna, Dan and the grandkids joining us, as well as Karl, which was a nice way to complete any week.
An unusual week and very non-routine, but going with the flow, as they say.
Your interest in these updates is appreciated.
