Health update first, as per the usual format. On Monday evening I had another physio session and it was much overdue! Five weeks since the previous session and that was far too long. My back muscles had become tight again and painful, but he got stuck in and could instantly see the difference and how the muscles needed attention. The next session is for two weeks time and we will aim to keep the timeframe shorter, between sessions.
I carried on with the walks, but only two managed, due to being away at the show. I also had an appointment with an orthopedic doctor on Tuesday, connected to my MRI back in November. Nothing of major concern and little they can do. She was happy with my mobility and strength of joints tests, with only my inner right elbow not producing a reaction to the reflexes test. I do think that is connected to the loss of power and grip in the same forearm during the chemo in 2022. However, no-one yet can explain why and the self-created exercises I do on alternate mornings certainly help with that specific issue. I did mention the light-headedness and fuzziness, but she could not determine any cause, from her specialties. She recommended a visit back to the GP, for that, something I plan to try and get this coming week - just to see what the cause may be, as it is variable. Regarding the ortho, no further action there.
The impact on my body, from attending the Stoneleigh show, between Friday and Sunday, was notable and to be expected. The test will be how long it lasts in the days and weeks to come. The last show I attended, in mid-September, was the start of the significant back pain / decline, which led to the psychological battle in October and culminated in the MRI in early November. Here’s hoping that the physio work undertaken since, will leave me in a better position.
Besides the health, the week fell into two main focuses, with the first being book related. As many of you will have seen, the advance copy of the Fritz Witt book finally reached me on Thursday, just in time to take that to the Stoneleigh show.. A few issues getting that through customs, but got to me finally, with the main delivery due this coming week. The book was well received at the show; thanks to those of you who placed advance orders there. Whilst waiting on that work continued on the early stages of Volume 7.
I travelled to the Stoneleigh show with Colin, my close friend, who allows me to stall out with him and his superb range of items. We caught up with many friends and customers there, old and new, which was great for the soul and nice to get out again, following a longggg winter. When we are not at the show itself, we have great social evenings at the hotel and many in depth and enjoyable conversations are undertaken. This week’s photo shows myself, Colin, Rodger and Ian - all long-term close friends, whom I trust implicitly and each of them have been of key assistance in my AD world. Friends like this are unfortunately hard to find, but once there, treasured immensely. The show itself certainly lacked the atmosphere and impact of previous shows, with our combined view that this could be the result of our current political administration and their illogical decisions. A lot of people are there and looking, but endless mentions of a lack of money, or confidence to spend; we’ll see how this year unfolds.
The second main focus was the recent side business venture undertaken, with Sandra and I investing in a flatbed truck to be used for vehicle movement and recovery. My son, Karl, has extensive experience in using one of those, both in the vehicle movement field and also the recovery field, as they are roles he has conducted professionally. Combine that with his mechanical expertise, we hope that it will prove successful; he will be the one driving and undertaking the vehicle movements. If you need a car moving or recovering, watch on FB and other locations for details of that.
Thanks for all of the kind words and interactions, from many of you at the show and also for the online support and comments.
Best regards
Peter
