Health updates to start the update. I am on track with the increased distance walks up the hill close to me, with 3 completed. It appears that they are helping to reduce the leg tingling, but only week one of completing 3, so not 100% certain yet. The temperature fell notably during the week, which made the final walk more challenging, but I persevered and maintained the January objective. The pre-Xmas change in my pillow may also be helping to ease the head tightness - again, not gone yet, but certainly easing. Both of these key issues are being monitored by me, constantly, so see what change is affecting which aspect. We had a movie night with our daughter on Friday, but instead of movies, we done a couple of new board game quiz cards, which proved challenging for all, but very funny. During that, I over indulged and it is clear that my body continues to evolve and not like some of my usual treats; the impact of Friday night’s over indulgence was a challenging Saturday. I will watch this changing situation and adapt my habits with a view to improving the situation and lessen the negative aspects.
This past week was the 2-year anniversary of me being given my prognosis and my thoughts turned to what has transpired in that timeframe. A complete change in my life, in all respects, from the health impacts, to retirement, to a refocus on what I consider important. A different world for me now, but one that I am still in and still some fight left in me yet.
On Sunday, Sandra and I undertook a day out and that had some key health ‘tests’ attached. We started the day just before 9am and had a 1-hour train journey, immediately followed by 1-hour in an uncomfortable chair, then a 30-minute taxi journey, 3-hours in a theatre seat, a return 30-minute taxi journey, another 1-hour in a chair, then the return train journey. Therefore, 8-hours out and about, most of that seated. By the latter part of the day, I could feel it in the bottom of my back, around the two muscles that have received all of the focus with the physio. The ‘test’ in all of this, is to align the treatment to my possible increased abilities to travel and make plans for 2025. Will see what this coming week brings, especially after Sunday night’s sleep and reassessment of the impact, but so far, promising.
Monday was book shaped, completing the outstanding 50% of the time critical pre-print check for the Fritz Witt book. The final proof followed later in the week and I have approved the final version, which is now being printed; I am awaiting the cover proof for approval and still unsure if I will meet my own target of having the book done and back with me in time for the Stoneleigh show. Other book related tasks included the full focus on Volume 7 research and laying down the foundational elements for this final book in that series.
Like many of you, the week that has just ended was the first full week of normality for 2025, with pretty much every facet being ‘revitalised’.That included a return to the full consultancy focus and two separate days were devoted to that. Great headway in realigning priorities and plans for the first quarter. I am now 1-year into this process and many changes and objectives worked through, with many more still on the list.
As touched on above, Sandra and I had our first proper outing of the year, with a trip to see the Shen Yeun show in London. A visual spectacle that covers traditional Chinese folk dance and music, it was a nice start to the year, in the respect of trips. Sandra is someone who enjoys visual spectacles, dancing and music and when I seen the show advertised pre-Xmas, I thought it would be a perfect event for her: that was a correct assumption and and we both had an enjoyable day out with good food too. A nice end to the week for both of us.
Thanks to those of you who left public insights into your 2025 and also those who messaged me privately. How is week 2 of 2025 going? Are you still on track with your heart and soul enriching focuses?
Thanks for the input and support; until next week.
Regards
Peter
