Slightly later than normal and as usual, health related aspects first, with this past week being a bit of a mixed bag. I opened my eyes on Tuesday morning and got up as normal and starting my early morning routine. However, very soon after, I had a general feeling of lethargy and upper body tiredness. I decided to go back to bed and slept on and off until just before midday. No explanation of the cause, but the effect was there and debilitating for a few hours. Sandra very reluctantly went to work, but due to her concern, Alanna came to the house and sat downstairs, after checking on me in bed. The after effects hung around into the following day.

The second health impact was more self inflicted and as a direct result of us visiting the Portsmouth area for a few days. We met up with my sister and her partner there and visiting the historic dockyard. The accumulative effect of walking around, viewing the old ships and museums, plus not having a comfortable chair to sit on, took their toll. It was great be to be home on Saturday evening, but Sunday evening seen me in bed before 9pm, as I became very tired, suddenly, in the later evening and that was how I seen out the end of that week.

Overall, another busy week. Monday was purely focused on the Fritz Witt book project. Tuesday was planned to be the first full day of consultancy for many weeks, and a key presentation was to be delivered by me. However, the unexpected arrival of the lethargy, put paid to those plans. Wednesday was Sandra’s birthday, so we spent the day together and managed a nice lunch in a local cafe, alongside a bit of pursuing the local shops. The evening was when the kids and grandkids came round, where we all had a chinese take-away and celebrated Sandra’s big day.

Thursday to Saturday was when we travelled to Portsmouth, picking up Susan and Paddy from Southampton airport, then moving onto the Port Solent area. The drive downwards was challenging, due to traffic jams and very heavy rain. We used Portsmouth as a base and begun the trip by visiting the Port Solent marina, where Paddy had sailed into 24-years previous. As part of that stop, we located a nice Thai restaurant and managed to get a very nice window table, where we enjoyed a very good meal (their ice cream was superb also!). The next day we went into the historic dockyard area, where we toured HMS Warrior (fantastic!), the Mary Rose (amazing!) and then Paddy and Susan also went to the Victory (Sandra had done that years back). The damp weather did not impede the day and it was great to see so much unsurpassed history up close. On the way back to the hotel, we made another stop at the Thai restaurant for a second pass of their great menu. On our way back to Folkestone on Saturday (Susan and Paddy with us for a few days to come), we stopped off at Chichester to have a look at their cathedral and other parts of the old town.

The week was rounded off on Sunday by us all resting and starting to recuperate from the very enjoyable, but tiring and impactful trip. After arriving home, we also got the chance to catch up with the kids and grandkids.

Regards, Peter
