Health aspects first, as usual. Following on from the injection the previous Friday, I had a very odd week. Varying side-effects (we think) from that, which were a reminder of some of the lower moments of 2023. The arm pain was there, but the side of my bicep swole up and there is still a notable lump there, which is hard underneath and sore to touch, although the size of it and corresponding pain, is diminishing. I also had varying stints of light-headedness and tiredness, which resulted in some early nights in bed, to get enough rest for the next day. Very odd overall and something we will monitor.

Although out of sequence, I attended the first of our annual militaria fairs, with my close friend Colin. The set up work was challenging, but manageable. However, by the time of the following day of trading and lots of interaction with the public, followed by the take down of the stall and repacking of the van, I was wiped out. Colin took the lion’s share of the hard and heavy work, as he is very mindful of my situation and very helpful, regarding it, when we are together. My back pain was high and overall tiredness, notable. I rested on the way back home, in the van, but the residual effects could be felt before getting into bed, which will no doubt carry on for the coming week.

I undertook the first of my Consultancy conversations during the past week, with two different organisations. A nice start to something that could build into more work, post-retirement. Good to be discussing potential and existing skills set / experience, with organisations that genuinely want help and need help, but recognise that; exciting potential. Whilst that may sound ‘standard’ in most organisations, I never cease to be amazed at some of the companies I have worked for / do work for, that lack the basic ‘hunger’ to recognise where they could be better and reach out for expertise that can help. Will see where this all goes, but a good start.

Working around the injection side effects, meant a reduction in other activities. Very limited work was done on the current book. Any time and energy was focused on prepping for the militaria show, then attending that, which took up the whole weekend. We do like these shows, as we get to interact with other traders, whom we know well, have a social evening in the hotel, then a busy show day interacting with existing and new customers. Good for the soul and something I look forward to (as touched on above, will have to see how my health is between now and the next show, which is a few months away).

Overall, a very busy week, juggling some challenges, which impacted the ‘task’ list.

Thanks for the ongoing input and support.

Regards
Peter
